Development and Differentiation

Cell- and developmental stage-selective activation of regulatory DNA drives the gene expression patterns that shape cellular identity. To identify these developmentally important regulatory regions, we are utilizing genome-wide profiling of DNaseI hypersensitive sites (DHSs) to map the accessible chromatin landEscape across numerous developmental and differentiated human tissues and cell types.

By analyzing the accessible chromatin landscape of these cell types we are beginning to understand the regulatory forces shaping the developmental state of these cells, as well as the trans-acting factors involved in molding that state.
